A little introduction to the work of artist Louise Despont, whom I've been endlessly inspired by this week. Her work lies at the intersection a few things I love: technical drawing, pattern, soft color, and scale. It feels very personal to me in some way: architectural, organized, but natural and almost cosmic. Louise draws on vintage ledger paper, and beautifully elaborates on her material view and marking the passage of time in this video from Art21, which is absolutely worth a few minutes of your time.
Would love for you to get acquainted with her work through her website, instagram, and these videos. For those of you in New York, her show at The Drawing Center opens in January. I've spent hours recently immersing myself in her work, it's truly meditative.
