The Merchant Home is looking for a freelance merchandising and creative assistant for the holiday season!

Basically, a right-hand man! Someone who is (of course) super-creative and visionary, and (most importantly) able to balance style with analytics and organization. A person with interest/experience in the retail and ecommerce space, who holds a true passion for beautiful products, retail presentations, and customer experiences, and who is looking for an awesome opportunity to learn about the creative and entrepreneurial side of the merchandising/buying industry.

 Designing Presentations

Developing client-facing presentations, including: art direction/styling direction/prop direction for ecommerce photoshoots; tradeshow recaps; competitive research; strategy documents; concept presentations.

Support in assortment development, production timeline/WIP management, and vendor discovery.

Looking for a fellow data junkie! We need help with data input, compiling analytics, and reporting in Excel.

Directed Research

Researching new products, potential retail partners, and the competitive market landscape.

Organizing visual data (photos/sketches) within company systems, as well as developing new systems.

Opportunity to contribute written work to client briefs, our website, and other projects, as relevant.

We’re looking for some who is confident working remotely, completely responsible, and driven to go above and beyond. Initially, the role will be 8-12 hours per week, contracted monthly through December 2014. For the right person, there is opportunity to continue into 2015 and beyond. Most important personal qualities are: a well-honed personal aesthetic, innate capability to discover new trends, super-organizational powers, a love of the makers and handmade movement, and yes, ability to multi-task. Experience working in buying, merchandising, or assisting on a lifestyle blog is a plus.

Interested? Great! Please send me a note directly at alexandra@themerchanthome.com with the phrase “Creative Assistant” in the subject line. I’d love to hear more about you, and what makes you a great fit for this position. I’m looking for someone with a great aesthetic and ability to discover new products- so links to portfolios, websites, blogs, or your gorgeous Pinterest and Instagram feeds are more than welcome. Show me what you’ve got (in under 5MB please)!
