[the wrap] oct 25 2013

it has been busy here recently, with lots to do and think about.  we are finally feeling settled after the move, and i'm feeling ready to get down to business.  on my list- writing more, a website/blog re-brand, and carving out time to draw and paint.

this foggy week started out with a long, contemplative drive home from our family reunion in santa ynez (on my list to write about soon), and is winding down with the return of sunshine and the promise of a friday afternoon run.  i visited makeshift society this week to lend my point of view to the ongoing discussion about artist-retailer relationships (more on this later).  my mind is feeling clear after spending time outlining new topics and formats for my blog, and brainstorming exactly how i want to structure my new business; i am excited to slowly implement some of these.

the highlight of my week was a chilly morning walk with charlotte (photos above and here)- we discovered a new path near our house that took us through some open fields out to the ocean.  she loved watching the waves and chatting with every dog, bird, and even rabbit we saw along the way.  i love experiencing new things together.

online, here are a handful insightful and inspiring pieces that i've come across.

- for those that missed out- the first four issues of 3191 are now available for digital download.

- an important and timely discussion about authenticity and aesthetics on one of my favorite blogs.

- insights into novice gardening via gardenista.

- are your flowers American-grown?  here's why they may not be. (via)

- over on twitter, the Nickey Kehoe team shared this great article on Jony Ive.

- a beautiful behind-the-scenes look at Red Wing Shoes, shot by Jesse and Jay.

- it's the last week to support the Makeshift Society tool library kickstarter.

- the Design*Sponge team upped their game with some more personal and thought-provoking posts.

here's to wrapping up a great week, enjoying a slow weekend, and getting outside!
